An awesome project
I have been tattooing James for a while now. What a pleasure working with him. Easy going is just one of many qualities he has.
Usually he comes in, gives me an idea of what he wants, and let’s me go for it. That’s the best way to get tattooed. If you trust and like what your tattooist does, give an idea of what you are thinking, and let they put their on twist to it.
When it’s too much your own idea, and the tattoo artist has no participation in the tattoo process, that sometimes doesn’t work. As tattoo artists, we have to translate an image as a tattoo version of the art work, considering longevity.
James has surprised me with an awesome idea. Which it was getting a tattoo of Batman and the 3 Jokers. He’s a big fan of The Joker, he loved every single one of the Batman’s movies with all jokers, so he thought why not to get a tattoo with all the jokers, and Batman in the background.
What an opportunity for me, I’m a big fan of Batman myself, I remember in the very first batman movie with Michael Keaton, I watched that movie 7 times in the cinema. I used to finish school and go to the cinema to watch it.
Movies has always been an artistic lesson for me, since I was a child, I’ve always been fascinated with movies like Batman, Robocop, Masters of the Universe, Predator, and Terminator. Movies are an art form, and as an artist is more than fun to be able to enjoy a movie and learn about art at the same time as getting inspired.
I’m really looking forward to start on this tattoo. These kind of tattoos are really fun for me to work with, however it gives me an opportunity to be able to create a really nice tattoo for my portfolio.
When I go to work to tattoo a piece I’m really happy to do, and the client is really nice to work with. It’s one of the best feelings I can have as an artist. When the client is nice, it helps the tattoo to come out even better. As working with a good frame of mind, helps with the tattoo outcome.
Thanks for reading our blog
Hello everyone, thanks for reading our blog.
In this blog I would like to talk about what I’ve been up to artistically.
I love digital art, it’s very practical and it saves me a lot of time.
I have been watching a lot of boxing lately, and I’m exited about the heavy weight division at the moment.
One of my latest favourite fights, was Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz.
Anthony Joshua, is a very well stabilised British boxer. Very well built body wise, he had a record of no loos, and everyone thought he was gonna get through Andy Ruiz in a very easy win.
Comparing both boxers, body wise, Joshua looked a lot fitter and a lot more prepare than Andy Ruiz. Andy Ruiz looked like he wasn’t prepared physically for this fight.
So long story short, a lot of people under estimated Andy Ruiz, including Anthony Joshua. No one thought Andy Ruiz would be able to go past Joshua, due to his physique.
Andy Ruiz surprised everyone, knocking Anthony Joshua 3 times on the floor. What an amazing fight. No one thought a Chubby Mexican guy would pull out, one of the biggest upset in history of boxing.
With this story I have learned anything is possible. Andy Ruiz believed in himself and pulled it out. When everyone was against him and doubting what he could do. He only had his beliefs and his ability, and he managed to prove everybody wrong.
I can’t wait for the re-match, I think both fighters are more than capable to win,
It could go either way, and I will be definitely watching this re-match.
Andy Ruiz was the first Mexican heavy weight champion of the world, so congratulations to him. Believing in yourself, dream big, anything is possible.

Japanese Sketch of the day
I love sketching, it’s the beginning and foundation of an idea, which it could turn in to many things.
When I sketch I try not too worry too much in the beginning, as ideas is far more important than proportions in the beginning.
It’s good to loose my mind and have fun, so ideas start to pop and naturally appear on paper.
As an artist, everyday I wake up and be grateful for still being here, I see it as an opportunity to express myself personally and artistically.
As human beings we are very expressive, and the ones who don’t manage to express themselves personally, vocally, artistically or however you choose to express yourself. Will lack on personal fulfilment.
This Sketch will be part of my book coming out hopefully. I’m doing all my drawings for my book on A3. This sketch is A4, so I’m not sure how it will fit yet. However, as soon as I’m expressing myself, I believe that’s the most important thing.

Portrait realism studies.
I’ve always been passionate about tattooing and drawing portraits.
In my opinion, drawing a face is the most fun part of the body to draw. I love tattooing and drawing old faces, as the texture is so vivid. Old people have a lot of story to tell in their faces.
Tattooing a portrait is probably the hardest subject to tattoo. That’s why I like to work on paper, before I attempt the skin.
I have had seminar on portraits by Nikki Hurtado. And I have had online portrait classes, which it divides each section of the human face, and study each part of the face, step by step. That was a very important and perhaps most enjoyable online class I have ever had.
Portraits are very welcome at Familia Tattoo. I’m definitely passionate about it, and will carry on to draw, paint and tattoo portraits.

I did this Geisha and hanya mask Japanese tattoo in Ibiza. I visit Matthew, who is from Leeds, we have a good time relaxing and tattooing.
Today, I had an epic day. Thanks to Max, for giving me the opportunity to do this Zombie sleeve for him.
It’s really fun for me to do a Zombie sleeve, and I’m sure to make the most of this opportunity, to give the best I can to Max.
The best part of doing a Zombie sleeve in my opinion is the freedom I have to express myself. As the subject is crazy, I can just go crazy and everything will be fine.
Working on this devil, I have made sure to get my dark areas in the background to give a morbid mood. Textures in the foreground, but only working on my mid tones in the foreground, controlling my dark in the foreground.
Zombies and devils are very textured creatures. And I love doing textures. It’s fun to keep finding the in and out textures, following the shape of the the subject.
I would like to thanks Max, for this opportunity. And it’s a bonus he’s a really nice and chilled guy, so I’m very happy working with him.
Sometimes I could say I’m blessed to do what I love, and work with really nice people, it just makes the day seem effortless.

Hello everyone, thanks for looking at our blog. I am now taking a look back, at some Japanese work i have done in the past, and having some memories of my Japanese Tattoos i have done, over my time i have been tattooing in Leeds.
Dragons are really good for cover-ups, its a beast with many textures and scales, so that for a cover-up is a very sensible option.
I remember to have done this dragon all free hand. I feel comfortable free handing dragons straight on skin, as i have drawn them many times before. Free handing, also gives a opportunity to get a better flow of the human body.
Every time i draw a dragon, i think like a crocodile face, that helps me to follow the shape and structure of the dragons face.
I learned to draw Japanese tattoos, just for the fact of being in a tattoo studio, you always gonna get asked for it. And i am also passionate about the style. I am gonna draw some new Japanese Tattoo ideas.
My ideas always gonna have a fantasy twist to it, as i like to push the boundaries a bit further, and brake the rules a little bit.
Thanks for reading our blog, until next time
I love drawing a style before i tattoo it. Being an art focused tattooist outside of the tattooing craft, it gives me the opportunity to develop knowledge, and push the boundaries, learning lessons, before going about the subject on skin.
I have been drawing Japanese tattoos since the beginning of my career, i am a big fan of Shige. He is a tattoo artist from Japan, who completely broke the rules of Japanese tattoos. Japanese tattoos were very traditional, every one used to stick to the rules. And Shige came along and changed all that, making Japanese tattoos more realistic.
So i like to bring a bit of realism when i approach a Japanese tattoo and drawing.
I have been tattooing Japanese tattoos in Leeds for the past 10 years, i will upload new ans past Japanese tattoos i have done over my career of 13 years.
I love drawing and tattooing Japanese Geisha, they look calm and graceful.
Japanese Tattoos have an amazing way of flowing in the body like no other style does.
